Your Hosts – Jacinta and Antony Zogg
Jacinta is a New Zealander whose ancestors arrived via ship to the shores of this beautiful country during the late 19th Century, some of who lived in Mount Victoria. She is a family orientated person who has lived in New Zealand all her life. Jacinta enjoys New Zealand’s unique appeal and characteristics, moderate climate, and she is especially fond of the dynamic city of Wellington.
Her husband Antony has mostly lived in Mount Victoria Wellington since arriving in New Zealand from South Africa some decades ago. He shares his wife Jacinta’s passion for live music (especially Jazz & Classical) which are in abundance in Wellington. They enjoy Wellington’s wide range of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, art house cinemas, theatres and opera house in Courtenay Place. They like to sample the buzz of Cuba Mall, the Willis and Lambton Quay shopping precincts.
As a four year old child, Jacinta showed a love of the piano and this has continued to be a focal point of her life. She has developed a career and interests based around her love of music and sharing this with others as a multi-instrumentalist musician. Jacinta thrives on music, so living in the heart of Wellington with its vibrant jazz scene is a true delight. She is drawn to the city’s rich cultural heritage, movies, theatre, classical music events and ocean side appeal. These are all just a few minutes down the road from the warm and comfortable home she enjoys with her husband, Antony. Jacinta also enjoys travelling overseas with her husband to visit family. This has predominantly focused around visiting their son who is currently based in Freemantle and other family members in Sydney and Adelaide, Australia.
Jacinta loves to combine The Arts, especially music and visual art. In 2009 she started her own Antiques, Art & Music business called ‘Il Senso Della Bellezza Ltd’ trading as ‘Sense of Beauty’ with her guiding motto, ‘Let the Beauty we love be what we do’. The walls of her home are graced with artworks which form part of a personal collection and there are also works displayed by ‘Sense of Beauty’. Guests who are pianists are personally invited to ‘tinkle on the ivories’ of the grand piano in the main lounge of Lawlor House. Sharing music and a love of The Arts is at the heart of Jacinta’s home life.
Antony is considering studying part-time for his PhD in Information Management, is a Public Speaking Trainer and Coach, and has authored an e-Book on public speaking called “Unlock your Public Speaking Potential”
that can be purchased online. He is a keen public speaker and a former President of the local Toastmasters Club. Antony is a Heart Foundation volunteer and makes fundraising presentations to corporate and community groups see Heart Foundation
. He also manages the Facebook page
for the Wellington Jazz Club
A new venture is now emerging as Jacinta puts her energies into developing a productive food garden on the clay banks which were previously home to a variety of shrubs. Fresh roses from Jacinta’s garden may occasionally grace the dining table during the months of Wellington summers.
As typical Wellingtonians Antony and Jacinta like to catch the Ferry to Eastbourne for a cup of coffee, walk the walkways of the green town belt, admire the view from the Mount Victoria Lookout, take the Cable Car to the Botanical Gardens for a picnic or stroll along the waterfront and Oriental Parade.
They both look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into their home.
